how does the chick lit book club work?
|
Every couple of months, a group of Chicks and Junior Chicks get together for some fundraising and good discussion about the selected books. A new venue will be organized for each book and every session will have a facilitator to get everyone talking! Simply email the event organizer if you are planning to participate that month and be sure to read the selected book. You can come to just one or you can come to them all!
Chicks are reading!
Fiction. Nonfiction. Sci-fi. Poetry. Comedy. And more!
Chicks are talking!
"We've turned reading into socializing and socializing into giving." – Jackie Zureich Chick Lit book club member
And Chicks are raising money!
Proceeds from the host restaurant’s selected menu items will directly benefit the Chicks’ 2011 – 2012 selected charity, IBC. Additionally, $5.00 donations will be requested each meeting that will also benefit IBC.

An enchanting New York Times and international best seller about life, art, literature, philosophy, culture, class, privilege and power, seen through the eyes of a 54-year-old French concierge and a precocious but troubled 12-year-old girl. A moving, funny, triumphant novel that exalts the quiet victories of the inconspicuous among us.

Lights shine in the city of Ember – but at the city limits the light ends, and darkness takes over. Out there in the Unknown Regions, the darkness goes on forever in all directions. Ember – so its people believe –is the only light in the dark world.
And now the lights are going out.
Is there a way to save the people of Ember? No one knows. But Lina Mayfleet has found a puzzling document, and Doon Harrow has made discoveries down in the Pipeworks. With these clues, they start their search.
